Guest Speaker: Dr. Judy Taylor
Judy Taylor has a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Mathematics. She has been a public school math and music teacher as well as a teacher of mathematics at the university level for a total of 35 years. More recently Judy has become a certified teacher, speaker, and coach by John C. Maxwell. John has been teaching leadership to various groups for 40 years and in 2014 was named number one leadership and management expert of the year by INC. Magazine. Judy has learned from John Maxwell for the past 2 ½ years. John’s philosophy is adding value to everyone. Judy has adopted that motto as her own. How can Judy add value to the people around her and improve the working environment that she works in. Judy has taught five classes of John’s signature book “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” to about 45 fellow employees, adding value to her workplace. Judy has also taught “The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth” to her fellow employees, also by John Maxwell.
A personal message from Judy: John Maxwell’s passion is personal growth and I wanted to know how John Maxwell grew so I did a google search trying to find out how this man continues to grow after being involved with leadership for 40 years. To find that out, I had to join the organization. I, too, have a passion for continual growth. So, I went through the leadership training provided by John Maxwell and went to the live event in Orlando, Florida February, 2015. It was an amazing event and I learned so much about leadership and the simple definition of leadership and how I can begin to add value to the people around me. It has been an amazing experience and I looked forward to sharing some of what I have learned being a part of the John Maxwell Leadership Team.
The three Principles from John Maxwell's books that Judy will focus on are as described below:
1. The law of the lid is seeing where your leadership lies on a scale of one to 10 and how you can set goals to become a more effective leader.
2. The law of Process is the law that teaches to set small goals and do them everyday.
3. The law of intentionality is the law that says if you are not intentional about growth you will never get around to it.
Furthermore, Judy will discuss how to set small goals in a SMART way so you don't go crazy trying to do them.
